In preparation for a two and a half day workshop starting November 6th (2009), the Undoing Racism Organizing Collective came to The Springfield Institute this week for an afternoon presentation. Annie Rodriguez, Anne Richmond, Rosa Matta, and Judy Feinstein explained how many of the overtly racist systems were eliminated by the Civil Rights Act, but that we still live with many systems that reinforce racism. Exercises like this power analysis of Springfield (see below) help us understand, articulate, and ultimately undo the harmful implications of systems like welfare, transportation, education, health, land use, and others.
