Independent Sector, a leadership forum for charitable organizations, has just released a workbook on good governance and ethical practices. It covers a wide range of issues and best practices, from appropriately defining the responsibilities of the board to properly handling financial oversight. The Springfield Institute’s own Aron Goldman sits on Independent Sector’s national committee on governance and contributed to this resource, which is available for download here.
It’s one of the major missions of the Springfield Institute to serve the local nonprofit community by producing, collecting, and disseminating useful resources like this workbook. Nonprofits deal with many of the same basic issues, so having a reference can help them take advantage of the knowledge and insight of those who have had some of the same struggles. By providing these resources, we want to strengthen Springfield’s nonprofits and bring more community voices into the discussion.
