At today’s North End Campus Coalition meeting, it was explained that there is no date, nor a general time frame, for the release of the next North End Community Initiatives RFP. By their own admission, the first round didn’t go so well, and there is new determination to put more infrastructure in place before a second RFP is released. Plenty of background about the first RFP, the Community Initiatives Fund, the Baystate community benefits money that pays for it, and info about the Mason Square tranche of the money here: “Baystate community benefits $: key facts, in one place”
I gave an update on the North End Strategic Plan:
- Agency focus groups – 5/18, 5/26 (x2)
- Resident focus groups – 6/9, 6/11
- Steering committee focus group – 6/2
- Public plenary – 6/18
And Dr. Scavron stressed the need for active committee members, especially in terms of figuring out what to do with the public health problem that the Gerena School is. Steve Bradley urged the group to start spending some of the community benefits money immediately on small items as they arise–but in an organized fashion.
