Look left. Sound familiar? Through a partnership with the Amherst College Center for Community Engagement, we have a little funding from the Bonner Foundation to use higher ed students (from Amherst College and the entire region) to increase democratic participation and citizen engagement in systems change. These students are addressing a critical missing link for many community groups, while serving as ambassadors for a new era of more meaningful and mutually beneficial relationships between higher ed and the region. On July 8th, a NH-based group called the Democracy Imperative, and the Deliberative Democracy Consortium, are hosting a conference on just these themes.
