New “Cities in crisis” report: Education worth more than ever

In 1975, educational attainment didn’t make a huge difference in terms of income. Not so today. Increasing income disparities seem to be driven by education. This report, prepared for the America’s Promise Alliance by the Editorial Projects in Education Research Center, analyzes the 50 biggest cities in the US (the smallest has a population of 258K, and Springfield is at about 150K). Springfield ranks just below the 50-state average of 52.8% high school graduation rate.
