CALLS TO GOVERNOR PATRICK RE: ECONOMIC STIMULUS MONEY
WEDNESDAY OR THURSDAY MARCH 18 OR 19
Is it fair to ask that some of these people get a shot at 15% of the 80,000 jobs to be created by the Federal Stimulus Funding Coming to Massachusetts?
- People who earn low wages now
- People who have been unemployed for long periods
- Young adults aged 18-24 who are unemployed
We think so. This is the largest job creation bill in history and we feel there should be some equity of access to the jobs across all income and racial groups. Governor Patrick has not yet responded to a February 18 letter signed now by 35 community organizations from across the state asking him to meet about the problem and our policy proposal. Take action now by calling Governor Patrick’s Office at (725-1100) beginning March 18 and leaving his message for Doug Rubin, Chief of Staff to Governor Patrick: My name is_________________. I’m calling from_____________(city and/or organization). I want to leave a message for Doug Rubin. Please tell him I called because we want the Governor to meet with community organizations about a policy to target a fair share of the 80,000 stimulus funded jobs to lower wage earners.
PLEASE LET US KNOW BY PHONE OR E-MAIL WHEN YOU CALL AND WHAT RESPONSE YOU RECEIVE. CALL WITH ANY QUESTIONS.
THANK YOU, Fred Rose, Pioneer Valley Project, 827-0781
