Holyoke & Dorchester youth check out Texas greenways

It looks like folks got a lot of fresh perspectives during the recent Kellogg Foundation Food & Fitness conference in San Antonio. I hope the Holyoke delegation brings some good ideas back to the Pioneer Valley.

  1. Aron,

There are more rail trails and greenways under development in a 100 mile circle around Holyoke [or Spfld] than anywhere in the U.S. Over 200 in fact. Most of them are in small and medium citys and connect where people live, work, and play.

Springfield has a project that is currently not moving forward and could use some assistance. Several other projects are near to Spfld and Holyoke that also could use some help.

In fact, the underlying common thread to every ‘Gateway City’ in Massachusetts is that they all have dead RR corridors waiting to be redeveloped that will connect schools, residential areas and commercial districts.
